Just got around to installing this Roland Tri Capture on my new W10 Laptop. Works well, clear sound easy connections and installation comes with Sonar LE cut down version which is fine/5(28). Main Specifications USB Audio Interface: Roland TRI-CAPTURE UA 1 pair of stereo Record * All inputs are mixed to 1 pair stereo on ALL Number of Audio Record/ INPUTS and LOOP BACK mode. Playback Channels 1 pair of stereo Playback. The Roland Tri-Capture is great for video production, web streaming, and creating podcasts with unique LOOP BACK function. It features a XLR (balanced) microphone input with phantom power, plus 1/4-inch input with Hi-Z switch for connecting a guitar directly. Stereo AUX input with dedicated volume control.

MIT integrates optics and electronics in a single chip

Fiber-optic lines allow the transmission of huge amounts of information at high speed, but the signal in them fades away, passing long distances. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) overcome the main obstacle to unlocking the potential of fiber-optic communications.

This is a solution to a problem that has long been the Achilles heel of fiber optic technology: light waves gradually weaken with distance, becoming polarized – randomly oriented in a vertical or horizontal plane. The means to correct this effect are quite expensive if fully deployed.

MIT Scientists Find Solution Using Existing Mass Production Capabilities.

Just as polarized sunglasses separate and filter out light waves, an MIT device separates the light rays passing through it. Then one of the polarized beams “turns” and reunites with the other. Thus, it is possible to restore the signal level.

The key to the success of the project was an important achievement – a method that made it possible to integrate optical and electronic circuits within a single silicon crystal.

The prototype shown by MIT, it claims, can be easily replicated in series production using well-established semiconductor technology.
