Prices and full testing of Intel Core 2 Duo with FSB 1333 MHz

The Chinese resource HKEPC has published a detailed review of the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 processor, whose sample ended up in its testing laboratory.

Recall that Intel is planning to release processors with 1333 MHz bus in the third quarter of this year. The source gives prices for the first of these models:

  • E6850 (3.0GHz, 4MB L2 cache) – $ 266.
  • E6750 (2.66GHz, 4MB L2 cache) – $ 183.
  • E6550 (2.33 GHz, 4MB L2 cache) – $ 163.

Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93 GHz, FSB 1066 MHz) and Athlon 6000+ (3.0 GHz) were chosen as rivals.

For convenience, the test results are summarized in the table:

It is quite predictable that the Core 2 Duo E6850 won all the tests – it runs at a higher frequency and higher FSB than the X6800, which, in turn, is clearly faster than the Athlon 6000+. And if you remember that not so long ago, it was the X6800 that was the flagship model of the Intel desktop processor line, selling for $ 999, then the E6850, estimated at the time of release (a year after the X6800) almost 4 times cheaper, will seem an even more attractive option for buying.
